The Village of Tivoli Board of Trustees, in collaboration with the Dutchess County Human Rights Commission, will be hosting a Virtual Community Listening Session this Saturday, June 27th from 2-4PM. Technical support will be provided by the Bard College Center for Civic Engagement.
This will be a first step in what will be a sustained conversation in our community. On Saturday (via ZOOM due to the COVID-19 pandemic) the public is invited to address the Village Board. The Board will only be listening and not responding to comments. We feel strongly that we need to listen and focus on your voices in order to absorb what you have to tell us. In the days to follow, we will revisit what you have told us and formulate the next step in the community conversation.
In preparation for the Session and in response to correspondence the Board has received asking for information about policing in Tivoli we have prepared this fact and data sheet: https://mcusercontent.com/db32a6873991aa156ac2f8920/files/b12d7ef0-5b6a-47dc-9019-82a6d35efb02/Tivoli_Police_Expenditures_2_.pdf
Here is the ZOOM link to participate in the Session:
Capacity is up to 300 people. Please be sure to enter the meeting by 2PM. Each speaker is requested to keep their comments to three minutes. Two moderators from the Dutchess County Human Rights Commission will facilitate the Session. The Session will also be live-streamed on YouTube at: https://youtu.be/oZmlh5dNDIE
The Village Board of Trustees hopes that everyone who would like to address us will participate in this event. We are eager to listen to you.
