Questions, Concerns about the Water System?

Since the severe water main break of January 8th, there have been many questions about where to get information relating to water service in Tivoli. This notice is to help you direct any questions and concerns you may have to the proper place.

As of July 2019 the Water and Sewer systems are being maintained and operated by the Dutchess County Water and Wastewater Authority.  They are responsible for everything from billing to repairing water main breaks and flushing hydrants. The Village of Tivoli and the Village Department of Public Works are no longer performing any of this work.

All users of the water system are encouraged to sign up for the DCWWA’s alert service. Link is below:

Public Hearing to hear all interested persons on a Proposed Extension of Terms of the Offices of the Mayor and Trustees from a two year term to a four year term
pursuant to Section 3-302 (5) of the Village Law, commencing with the terms of office following the next general Village election.

Present: Mayor Cranna, Deputy Mayor Leedy, Trustees Ezrati , Trustee Bruno and Trustee Griffith

Public: Attorney Christine Chale, Fred Cartier of PANDA TV and the attached list of the Public Attendees

The Public Hearing was called to order at 7:00pm by Mayor Cranna.

Mayor Cranna stated that he was pulling the Resolution dated July 24, 2012, titled:

RESOLUTION PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY GRANTED BY SECTION 3-302 OF THE VILLAGE LAW, EXTENDING THE TERMS OF THE OFFICES OF THE MAYOR AND TRUSTEES FROM A TWO-YEAR TERM TO A FOUR YEAR TERM, COMMENCING WITH THE TERMS OF OFFICE FOLLOWING THE NEXT GENERAL VILLAGE ELECTION, SUBJECT TO PERMISSIVE REFERENDUM to review with Counsel for revision to from a permissive referendum to a mandatory referendum.

Mayor Cranna asked if anyone from the public would like to address the board.

The following members of the public spoke and are not in favor of the Proposed Extension of Terms of the Offices of the Mayor and Trustees from a two year term to a four year term: Karen Cleaveland, Vincent DuBois, Peter Mauney, Emily Mangeri, Danielle Reed, Matthew Kolbalkin, John Cliett, Phylis Palmer, Emily Majer, Louise DuBois, Leigh Palmer, Mark Bennett, Michael Prudhome, Robert Zises, and Lisa Chandler. A letter addressed to the Mayor and Board of Trustees from Jeffrey Scales, also not in favor of the proposed changes , is attached to these minutes.

Mayor Cranna continued the Public Hearing until August.
